Oasis of the Seas Swaps Bahamas for Halifax: What It Means for Casino Royale Players
Royal Caribbean’s forced to make a major last-minute itinerary change for Oasis of the Seas out of Cape Liberty. Due to a severe storm building off the U.S. East Coast, the ship’s October 18 sailing was completely rerouted away from warm weather stops like Port Canaveral, Nassau, and Perfect Day at CocoCay. Instead, guests are headed north for an overnight visit to Halifax, Nova Scotia, with the rest of the voyage turned into sea days.
To make up for the sudden pivot to cooler weather, Royal Caribbean’s issuing refundable onboard credit based on stateroom category—ranging from $200 per guest for insides up to $600 for suites—along with a 50% Future Cruise Credit (FCC) for paid guests.

What This Means for Casino Royale Players
If you’re sailing on a Casino Royale comp or discounted offer, a massive shift from a warm Caribbean getaway to Canada might seem disappointing at first glance, but it actually brings a few interesting opportunities for table and slot players.
- More Casino Hours: Dropping multiple ports in favor of sea days means the onboard casino’s going to be open much longer. Extra sea days give you a huge window to rack up tier points, work through your free play, and build up your coin-in toward your next casino offer.
- Loss of CocoCay Play: One of the best perks for casino players visiting Perfect Day at CocoCay is that Casino Royale usually stays open while anchored at the island. Losing that port means missing out on daytime island-side play, but the added sea days easily make up for total floor time.
- Maximizing Onboard Credit & FCCs: Check the fine print on your booking if you booked through a casino promotion. While paid fares get a 50% Future Cruise Credit, comped players usually receive FCC based on the actual taxes and fees paid or the upgraded portion of their stateroom. However, the refundable onboard credit is a huge win—you can use it for drinks, specialty dining, or even cash it out via casino tables/slots depending on how you manage your onboard folio.
While packing a heavy jacket wasn't on anyone's original bingo card for a Bahamas cruise, extra sea days mean plenty of warm floor time inside Casino Royale. If you find your itinerary scrambled by autumn weather, leverage those extra hours at the tables to lock in your next tier status and enjoy the bonus onboard perks.
